How Long Do I Need to Avoid Sun Exposure After Treatment?

After varicose vein treatment, it’s important to avoid direct sun exposure on the treated areas for at least 1-2 weeks, although your doctor may recommend a longer period depending on the procedure and your skin type.

Sun exposure can cause pigmentation changes, leading to darkening or discoloration of the skin in the treated areas, which can be temporary or permanent. If you need to be outdoors, apply a high-SPF sunscreen (50 or above) to the treated areas and cover them with clothing to minimize sun exposure.

Taking these precautions will help protect your skin and ensure the best cosmetic outcome from your treatment. Following your doctor’s specific recommendations regarding sun exposure is crucial for a smooth recovery and maintaining the results of your varicose vein treatment.
