EVLA (Endovenous Laser Ablation), often referred to as EVLT, is the Gold Standard treatment for varicose veins. It uses targeted laser energy to seal the faulty vein from the inside. This minimally invasive procedure is performed under local anesthesia, takes less than an hour, and treats the root cause of venous insufficiency without the need for open surgery or hospitalization.

The procedure involves placing a very small amount of medical glue (cyanoacrylate) into the vein through a small catheter. Once the glue is dispensed, the vein walls adhere together and close. Blood is immediately rerouted to healthy veins nearby.
EVLA is suitable for most patients with large, straight varicose veins (Saphenous veins). A Color Doppler scan is required to confirm if your vein anatomy allows for the passage of the laser fiber.
The main difference is heat. EVLA uses thermal energy (heat) to close the vein, which requires local anesthesia along the leg to protect surrounding tissues. VenaSeal uses a medical glue and does not require heat or extensive anesthesia.
Immediately. Walking is encouraged right after the procedure to promote healthy blood circulation. Most patients resume work the next day.
