Varicose veins are blue veins on the legs that can worsen to pain in the legs, swelling, skin darkening and even open wounds on the feet.
Traditionally, varicose veins were treated by open surgery called Surgical Stripping of varicose veins. This is an open surgery and an invasive procedure.
The current standard of care for Varicose Veins treatment is Endovenous Ablation. This involves placing a device within the vein and sealing it from the inside. This is done via a small needle very much like an IV line needle placed within the appropriate vein in the leg.
Ablation can be carried out using Laser or Electrical Energy ( RFA ). Laser ablation is the most common method of treatment. The cost of laser treatment varies from center to center depending on type of device used and other factors.
At Vein Center, we use the latest generation 1470 nano meter wavelength radial firing laser fiber. This gives a uniform closure of the vein and cuts down operation time drastically.
Varicose Veins laser treatments are covered by medical insurance. For personal insurance policies, the wait period is typically 3 years from the time of inception of the policy. There is no waiting period for corporate insurance policies.
Any consultations and tests done within 30 days of the procedure, which are relevant to the treatment are also covered by insurance and can be completely reimbursed.
